Versatility in poodles Statement regarding Merle in poodles. Click here

The Poodle specialty Club of BC shares the same stance on the Merle pattern/color in poodles, We DO NOT believe it is a naturally occurring color and it is only achievable by cross breeding!

Poodles come in many naturally occurring solid colors such as: Black, Blue, Silver, White, Cream, Apricot, Red, Brown, Silver Beige, and Cafe Au lait.

Two acceptable patterns in poodles are, Parti (White with large color splashes with any one of the above colors, sometimes with light ticking in the white) and Phantom ( Black with Brown or Brown with Cream, Think Doberman Pinscher Colored) although these colors are naturally occurring in the breed, they are a disqualifying fault for the conformation ring so you will not see these colored dogs at a conformation show, they are permitted to partake in performance sports.
